K-Drama Review: Coffee Prince

This Korean Drama is a must watch period! If you enjoy K-Dramas under the genre cross-dressing/gender bender, romance, comedy, you'll fall in love with this drama by the first episode.

When this drama launched 2007 it was quite provocative for it revolves around the issues of homosexuality. For the male lead Choi Han Kyul (played by Gong Yoo) actually believed that the leading female Go Eun Chan (played by Yoon Eun Hye) was a guy. Eun Chan whom is a tomboy, which is why Han Kyul thought she was a guy. When they first met, Eun Chan did not intend to lie about her identify, but ended up happening, because of poverty. For she needed money to pay her family expenses and when a job was offered: to be his pretend gay-lover. In order to scare off the blind dates Han Kyul’s grandmother send him. What was she to do? Later, Han Kyul was forced to manage a Coffee shop, which he aimed for woman; therefore he only wanted male hosts. Which is why Eun Chan kept her gender a secret (that other characters either later found out about or knew and helped her keep it a secret)... Lots of romance, jealousy, and a gay couple?!?!

Just watch it to find out... what I am talking about. This drama contains a side love stories with the other characters. You'll laugh, cry, and just enjoy this drama till the very end. Watch it now, if you haven't started already (links below!)

MY OVERVIEW:

THINGS I ENJOYED

The fact that Yoon Eun Hye who plays Go Eun Chan actually looks like a guy in the Drama. Before, I started watching this K-Drama I googled Gender Bending Drama Recommendations and this drama was recommend. Which lead to me checking it out, but when I saw the first episode I thought it was a “homosexual” drama. I know I am lame. I thought it was cute/funny how Choi Han Kyul who is played by Gong Yoo questions his sexual orientation, later on in the drama.
The side characters I loved the side character they were just enjoyable and memorable. Extremely funny characters are in this drama… Lee Un (Hwang Min Yeop) is the funniest character in this drama, he is protraied as a low life, thug, who is uneducated and is in love with Eun Chan’s sister Go Eun Sae (Han Yeh In). It is save to say he is my favorite side character in this drama. I love the rest too, especially the cutie No Sun Ki played by Kim Jae Wook he is just hot and has a cute mysterious personality.
