TV Show Review: Once Upon a Time

Hello Everyone!

"I did not expect to like this television series as much as I do."

This new television series titled, "Once Upon a Time" is basically a modern (retold) tale of every fairytale there is.  It contains characters such as  Snow White, Prince Charming, Cinderella, Japedo, Jiminy Cricket, Rumpelstiltskin and so on.

I love the backstories they are what makes my Sunday's I get excited when a new character appears on the screen because, I wonder how they are going to "tweak" the original to fit the story line. I especially love Snow's personality and backstory she is unlike the girly, fragile Snow from disney who's life has to be protected by seven little men plus the prince. As you could probably tell I do not like the disney version all that much.

I would recommend this story to anyone who loves shows based on adventures, mysteries, fairy-tale's and lots of juicy drama! If some of these or all of  these apply to you this show should be put this show on your must watch pile! (Preferably on your must watch NOW pile. xD  )

SYNOPSIS:

There was an enchanted forest filled with 

all the classic characters we know.

Or think we know.

One day the found themselves

trapped in a place where all their 

happy endings were stolen.

This is how it happened...

The show starts off with Snow White and Prince Charming's wedding day. Everyone was happy and overjoyed by their "happily ever after" until the Evil Queen cames with her vengeance. Once she is gone, Snow White is worried about the threat and decides to meet "him".

Prince Charming does not wish to go, but does on her behave. Rumpelstiltskin makes a deal with Snow White: the future for the name of her future child. Snow White agrees, therefore Rumpelstilskin tells her that her child must be sent away for her safety and on her 28th birthday she will come back to find them, becoming the savior to all. Once they were done... Rumpelstilskin begged to know the name of the child. "Emma," Snow White replied.

In the modern world (present time), Emma is a bounty hunter in Boston (four hours away from Story Brooke). A young kid named, Henry comes to pay her a visit calming to be her son. He begged her to come home with him. It was her 28th birthday and she was taking her son home to Storybrooke.

CAST:

Ginnifer Goodwin as Snow White/Mary Margaret Blanchard

Snow White is blamed for the death of Parrilla's (The Evil Queen's) true love which is what lead to the evil curse that brought them to Storybrook. Snow White was pregnant when Parrilla activated the curse but, they saved her daughter from the curse by putting her in an enchanted "tree trunk?"  (I forgot what they called it) As she send her daughter way as the curse was on it's way the only thing Snow could do now is hope that her daughter will come back to her when she turns 28. Her character and backstory are completely different from the Disney version in other words it's actually good. I her love story and everything. She is actually a "trouper" unlike Disney's Snow White. In Storybroke she is known as  Mary Margaret Blanchard a elementary school teacher who is single and cannot find love until she mets "John Doe."

Jennifer Morrison as Emma Swan

Emma Swan is a  bounty hunter and on the day of her 28th birthday her son Henry came back into her life and took her to Story Broke. Emma is a strong willed character and is capable of anything when involving her son. At first Emma did not want to believe the silly stories her son would tell her about how "The Evil Queen" has trapped all the fairy tale creatures in to a land of no happy endings also known as Story Brook. According to Rumplestiltskin Emma is the only one to break the curse.

Lana Parrilla as The Evil Queen/Regina Mills

The Evil Queen plants "the evil curse that ends all curses" in order to destroy Snow's happy ending with the Prince and keeps accusing her of killing the one she loved. Unlike me questioning Rumplestiltskin's "evilness." Parrilla is another story she is just plain evil that has no heart what so ever. Whether it's in Storybrook or in the backstories she just has so much anger in her that not even she knows how to deal with it. In story brooke is the major of the town giving her enough power to keep Snow and Jon Doe away from each other and Emma away from Henry and the truth of the curse though, up until know she is unaware of who Emma really is. 

Josh Dallas as Prince James "Charming"/David Nolan

Prince "Charming" is a portrayed as a  tortured soul in Storybrook in my opinion. For, he is trapped in a loveless marriage with 

Kathryn Nolan/Abigal (was Charming's bride-to-be before meeting Snow.) Though his heart aches for Mary Margaret he struggles with leaving his wife. His backstory is pretty interesting though quick spoiler: He's not the "real" 

prince or am I lying go watch the show to find out. 

Jared S. Gilmore as Henry Mills

Henry was adopted by Regina Mills when he was a baby –Emma wanted to give him, "his best chance"– but, with Henry "believing" that everyone is fairy tale character to him his step mother is the Evil Queen herself and she is! Right on Henry. Therefore, bringing him to locating his mothers whereabouts. Henry is a  very smart kid who wants to break the curse created , "operation cobra" this includes Emma, Archie, Mary Margaret and anyone else who wants to help .

 

Robert Carlyle as Rumplestiltskin/Mr. Gold

Rumplestiltskin is the one of the main antagonist of this program –beside from the Evil Queen.– I like to think of him as the puppet master of this story for on every backstory there is he has something to do with every situation / person. He's the one behind everything in my opinion. I still cannot decide whether he is evil or good, because the way he works makes sense (with his deals and stuff).  Especially, after watching his backstory on episode 8 "Desperate Souls." In Story Brooke he is known as Mr. Grown the riches man in the town (he owns the town) and even in Storybrooke everyone fears him and his deals.
